Doesn’t John Stossel Know That He Is Supposed To Agree With O’Reilly On Racial Profiling?

By Che

The lead in to O’Reilly’s interview with Stossel, was that Stossel was a strong supporter of racial profiling. Turns out that Stossel is not a strong supporter and Bill O’Reilly was not ready for Stossel’s defiance.

Either Bill O’Reilly’s handlers got sloppy and forgot to tell Stossel to not make O’Reilly look bad, or Stossel went rogue. Either way, it made for a pretty entertaining video.

I love watching O’Reilly have his logic challenged, because he is not good at debating when he is caught off guard.

The truly great part of this video is that when O’Reilly tries to make his case that Racial profiling is necessary, he actually does a better job of explaining why racial profiling is not needed.

Using Bill’s own argument, a terrorist can be spotted by simply looking at his or her clothing, and taking a peek a his or her passport. Racial profiling in O’Reilly’s scenario would be obsolete.

Beck: African American Is A Bogus, PC, Made-Up Term. It Is Not A Race.

I will refrain from commenting, and let Beck’s Buffoonery speak for itself.

Think Progress notes that on an earlier program, Beck had admitted that he didn’t have “a lot of African-American friends, and I think part of it is because I’m afraid that I would be in an open conversation, and I would say something that somebody would take wrong, and then it would be a nightmare.”

Such foresight. (From the Huffington Post)

Hannity Wants Obama To Fail More Than He Wants America To Succeed

By Che

Hannity says he wants jobs to be created, but he is as transparent a plastic wrap. It is obvious that he just hates the idea of an economic turn around under Obama.

I have not agreed with many of Obama’s decisions when it comes to the economy, but that is not the issue. The issue is that Hannity clearly would rather see unemployment reach Great Depression levels, than see a single job created under Obama.

Based on what Varney said:

The President and the Democrats could get lucky. You are going to see some relatively positive economic news in the next few days…Jobs numbers not so bad. Jobs may be created.

It is easy to see the disinterest that these three display for the well being of this country. Why would only the Democrats and Obama be the lucky ones if jobs are created? Wouldn’t all Americans benefit? The answer to that question is yes, but these three are not interested in Americans benefiting, they are interested in being able to say they were right about Obama’s “so called” socialist economic agenda.

So much for Hannity being a true American and loving his country.

Walmart And Other Stores Implement A Policy Of Destroying Unsold Clothing And Jackets Rather Than Donating Them To The Needy

By Che

From Huffington Post:

Amid the recession and the cold winter months, Cynthia Magnus made a shocking discovery at the H&M in Manhattan’s Herald Square. It wasn’t a sale on the season’s hottest trends–it was garbage bags upon garbage bags of unsold merchandise, most of it slashed with razors to ensure that no one would ever wear or sell it, the New York Times reports.

“Gloves with the fingers cut off,” Ms. Magnus said, reciting the inventory of ruined items. “Warm socks. Cute patent leather Mary Jane school shoes, maybe for fourth graders, with the instep cut up with a scissor. Men’s jackets, slashed across the body and the arms. The puffy fiber fill was coming out in big white cotton balls.” The jackets were tagged $59, $79 and $129.

And right around the corner from this particular H&M is a popular collection point for New York Cares’ coat drive. The organization’s spokeswoman Colleen Farrell told the Times, “We’d be glad to take unworn coats, and companies often send them to us.”

While H&M’s destroy-and-discard policy is a missed opportunity in this time of need, the fast fashion retailer isn’t the only one to practice these extreme measures. Magnus also found bags full of clothes priced with Wal-Mart tags, and each item had a hole punched through it.

Melissa Hill, a spokeswoman for Wal-Mart told the Times that the company typically donates its unsold pieces to charity and would investigate why those bags was discarded.

Karen Hanretty Is Not Bashful About Admitting Her Hackish Hypocrisy

By Che

It’s one thing to be hypocritical, but it is an entirely different beast when someone proudly admits (with a shit-eating grin) their double standard.

In Hanretty’s world:

Obama taking three days to respond to the “underwear bomber”: Terrifyingly incompetent.

Bush taking six days to respond to the “shoe bomber”: Brilliantly thoughtful and bold.

Hanretty…A political hack and proud of it.

The Great Depression times 100?

Hyper inflation like the Weimar Republic?

Beck needs to stop reading stories about the Mayan calendar and the end of the world in 2012, and maybe just try reading the Sunday funnies for a change. but I digress.

The major issue I have with Beck in this video, is that he has no clue about the Weimar Republic and what caused their hyperinflation and ultimate demise. But facts never get in his way, and his viewers just like his silly “clown-like” demeanor, so they won’t stop watching

Think about, if you are going to discuss the end of the world, why not do it lightheartedly?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Beck has massive amounts of money invested in companies that produce tinfoil hats, gas masks, and bomb shelters.

In Beck’s defense, he knows how to make money and keep his ratings up. So more power to him…I guess.

Is It Time To Start Boycotting Whole Foods?

By Che

From Huffington Post:

John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods: “No scientific consensus exists” re Climate Change.

I’ve been a big fan of Whole Foods’s CEO John Mackey for years.

I’ve talked with him twice on behalf of my elephant journal, and he’s agreed to an interview (which would sit nicely along our “Walk the Talk Show” videos with Deepak Chopra, Michael Pollan, Dr. Andrew Weil, Alice Walker, Arianna Huffington, Amy Goodman). I’ve defended WFM and Mackey through WildOatsGate, wherein Mackey denigrated the value of his rival on an online forum (while cloaked beneath a pseudonym, and throwing in a flattering comment about his own new haircut “he looks cute!”)

I urged the FTC to stop blocking WFM’s purchase of Wild Oats–though the consolidation was sad, Whole Foods had plenty of rivals left in the mainstream grocery chains who were, even then, selling more and more organics. I posted articles re: how Whole Foods no longer deserved its moniker Whole Paycheck. I gave Mr. Mackey kudos for honesty when he railed against Whole Foods’ own offerings, calling much of their offerings “junk.” And then, in an article that sat upon the home page of HuffPost for the better part of a week (traffic Mecca of the wwworld) and was picked up by the NY Times and Atlantic, I was a lonely “green” voice defending Whole Foods against progressive cries for a boycott after Mr. Mackey took on “Obamacare,” arguing in an infamous Wall Street Journal editorial that health care was not a right.

But I’m finally losing it, and he’s finally losing me.

The below excerpt is from a riveting profile in the January 4th New Yorker. It represents Mackey’s latest foot-in-mouth jaunt through self-delighted devil’s-advocate frankness:

Beck Needs To Invest In A Teleprompter

So much for ad-libbing your monologue, ay Beck? I have no idea what he was trying to say in this clip, so maybe someone in the blogosphere can translate.

Beck said:

I’m going to show you what I have said, in my own words with the video tape, what they said in response. And now because we have the luxury of time, the truth, as it stands…because of their actions.

I know what you are thinking…Huh?

Oh well, on to the bigger point. Beck chides Media Matters and The Washington Post for deeming him “Misinformer of the Year,” and claims that they had no facts to back up their assertion. Yet Media Matters has chronicled all of Beck’s fables for quite some time now. All you have to do is check the site. It is easy for Beck to say that Media Matters is fact-less, because Beck knows the vast majority of his viewers will not go find out for themselves.

Furthermore, it is laughable for Beck to claim he is all about the truth. Beck seems to think if he refers to his show as “opinion” based, he no longer has the responsibility of being truthful. Here is an example:

Beck said:

This president, I think, has exposed himself as a guy — over and over again — who has a deep-seeded hatred for white people, or the white culture.

Now that may be Beck’s opinion, but that does not make it true.

Brit Hume To Tiger Woods: Turn To Christianity If you Want To Recover From This Scandal

First, let me preface this post by saying I am not a Christian, but I greatly respect the teachings of Jesus Christ. What I have a huge problem with, are people like Hume who pervert the true teachings of Jesus, and look at other belief systems as inferior, though they have no knowledge of those systems offer.

I did not think Brit Hume could become any more repugnant than he already is.

Hume’s commentary about Christianity, redemption, forgiveness, bla bla bla, is so old and worn out. If Hume would actually open his mind a little bit, he would realize that his comments were just moronic.

Becoming a Christian does not mean Tiger Woods will automatically be redeemed. There are plenty of scumbag, so-called Christians, that are not even close to being redeemed. You know what I mean Brit?

In Hume’s world, along with millions of other hypocritical Christians, being a Christian is a piece of cake because if you screw up and sin, all you have to do is pay some money and say some prayers, and all is forgiven. What a great life one could live knowing that he or she can be a derelict their entire life, but as long as they ask for forgiveness and accept Christ as their savior before they die, off to Heaven they go.

As for Hume’s knowledge of Buddhism? Well, let’s just say he is not going to reach Nirvana any time soon.

Read a book Hume, it might help to hide your utter ignorance of the vast world that you blissfully ignore.

Rove Does Not Want Gays To Ruin The Sanctity Of Marriage. He Wants To Do It Himself

I would have liked to have seen someone who was against gay marriage entirely, debate Jane about this issue. I was a bit disappointed when I heard Ms. Mair refers to herself as a libertarian, only because I know true libertarians are not against gay marriage.

Kevin Madden Cannot Be Serious…Can He?

By Che

When I hear Kevin Madden try and distinguish between Barack Obama’s three day wait before commenting about the attempted bombing in Detroit, and Bush’s six day wait before he commented about the “shoe bomber,” I can’t help but lose even more respect for professional pundits, especially Kevin Madden.

Just once you think someone, anyone, on either side, would say, “you know what? this is all nonsense.” Instead, they go on national television and make fools of themselves.

So let me get this straight, the difference between Obama and Bush, with regards to the attempted bombings that each of them witnessed while president, was two fold. One, because Bush was arbitrarily seen as being “tough on terror” (except when he was responsible for perpetrating it), he gets a pass on waiting six days. And two, Hawaii is a foreign land, so it is different than vacationing in Texas.

I rarely hurl personal attacks on this web site, but Madden, you are an idiot!!!

Forget the fact that her comment makes no sense, what is more appalling is the fact that someone who is given a platform, such as CNN, actually believes something so outrageous.

Other things Mary Matalin believes:

  • Roosevelt inherited Pearl Harbor.
  • Woodrow Wilson inherited World War I.
  • The Flintstone’s cartoon was a documentary about creationism (thanks Lewis).
  • Saying “Biggie Smalls” into a mirror three times, will cause him to appear and pop a cap in your ass.
  • These are only a few.

Mary Matalin is actually writing a book titled “How To Not Be Taken Seriously In One Easy Step.
