Scarborough Is For States’ Rights, Unless He Disagrees With The State
Chris Matthews obviously took it easy on Joe because they are colleagues, but once Matthews exposed Joe for the hypocrite he is, there was no turning back.
First a little background. Joe came on Hardball today to push his new book, where apparently one of the main themes is conservatives need to get back to what truly matters, in this case states’ rights. Simple enough, right?
When Matthews asked him about whether or not the federal Supreme Court should have been involved in the 2000 Florida recount, Scarborough looked like a deer in headlights.
(remember that the federal Supreme Court overruled Florida’s supreme Court and put an end to the recount. If the recount would have continued, it would have put Gore in office)
Matthews sensed Scarborough was cornered, and quickly changed to a topic that was a little easier for Scarborough to handle, and never went back to press the issue.
Joe Scarborough has made a living on MSNBC trying to seem moderate, but his true political beliefs are very transparent. For instance, when he said:
Scarborough: I’m still trying to figure out what two gay guys doing in Vermont, have to do with my marriage in Florida.
Many of you may be thinking, wow, that’s a pretty progressive statement. But when Matthews asked him:
Matthews: What about to gay guys in Florida?
Here was a perfect chance for Joe to walk the walk about “constitutional consistency,” and independent thinking, So what was his response?
Scarborough: Well that’s a little bit closer to home.
Huh? What happened to all that constitutional consistency stuff?
So what have we learned from this hypocrite.
- The states should deal with election issues, unless Joe’s guy is losing.
- Joe is all for other states giving “queers” the right to marry, but his state is different. He may catch the gay if they allow those people in Florida.
Someone tell Joe to go back to his morning show and verbally beat up Mika some more.
