Hannity Gets Facts Wrong About Professor Gates’ incident, Even Though He Says He Read The Police Report

By Che

I have always questioned Hannity’s cognitive abilities because no one with even a modicum of intellect would swallow as much right wing propaganda and rhetoric as he does.

After seeing Hannity, on multiple occasions, profess that he read the Cambridge police report about Professor Gates, then in the same breath totally misquote it, only leads me to believe that Sean Hannity cannot read.

In response to Nina Easton’s comment that most Americans would have acted in the same fashion if they were arrested even after showing identification and proving that they were the lawful occupants of their home, Hannity said:

He didn’t show him [his I.D.]…If you read the police report…(Crosstalk)

If Sean had read the police report, like he claims he did, he would have realized that identification was shown. According to the police report, Gates initially refused, but then produced identification.

The key here is that in the report, the description of Gates refusing to show identification and Gates producing identification were written in the same sentence. This would leave me to believe that identification was produced in a relatively prompt manner, and that no long drawn out battle to try and get Gates to prove who he was took place.

This is not the first time I have witnessed Hannity embellish this incident. Last week he had attributed the word “combative” to Gates, and made it sound like that word was in the police report, when it does not appear anywhere in the document.

I honestly do not think Hannity is illiterate, but I would be willing to bet that the only books Hannity has ever finished, were ones written by himself.

Great article I could not have written it better my self. As I live in Europe I wonder how people as Hannity have such a platform!

Insannity fact-check? You mean, like, actually reading the report before opening the gaping hole in his face? Surely you jest! That would require integrity, investigative skills, and taking pride in ones work to ensure the reporting is accurate. If Insannity did that, why, it would destroy his credibility to those who believe he has any! Why mess with pesky facts when he can just make stuff up?

He makes millions doing exactly what he did here, on a daily basis – he knows there are those among us who are just as lazy, ignorant, and uncurious as to the world around them, the dumbest amongst us, so to speak, as he is. He’s fully aware they will buy his bull, hook, line and sinker.

Well said Veronica. he does prey on the stupid, but I don’t think he is smart enough to realize what he is doing.

Remember that Hannity has a long history of selectively picking out the parts he wants to publicize and ignoring the parts that prove his argument leaks like a dog marking his territory. He is the one who said that Obama’s speech in Cairo favored Hamas because he left out the parts where Obama took Hamas to task.

It’s not that he doesn’t know that he’s wrong. He is lying deliberately.

Hannity is a frkn’ liar. Last week, in response to the government paying $1.50 per pound for ham, he claimed that this was wasteful spending because “most” grocercy stores sell ham for 79 cents a pound. I checked at a local grocery store here in the midwest last week….cheapest ham I saw was $2.49 a pound.

    Hannity is a lying idiot.
