Maddow Shoots Down Armey’s Claim That Moveon Ran Hitler/Bush Ads

By Che

The claim that Moveon.org ran an ad that compared Bush to Hitler was discredited years ago.

Here is one of the two ads that Dick Armey is referring to:

The problem with Armey’s accusation is Moveon never ran this ad. In fact, this ad was not even created by Moveon.

Back in 2004, Moveon.org ran a contest called “Bush in 30 Seconds” where activists from around the country submitted a 30 second political commercial. This ad was one of the entries.

These particular commericals were not chosen by Moveon, and were even taken from their website, but that did not stop Republicans from exploiting the situation.

Armey, like many other Republicans, would rather peddle misinformation that helps further their cause, than deal with the facts.

Here is an article from the Nation magazine, published in 2004, that discusses this very topic.

Rachel Maddow did a credible job. Unfortunately Gregory seemed intimidated by Coburn and Armey…Its time to replace Mr. Gregory. He has proven beyond a doubt that he is no Tim Russert…
