John Kyl Is A Misogynistic, Pro-Life Hypocrite

By Che

Was that title a little too harsh?

The longer one thinks about John Kyl’s stance on maternity leave for expecting mothers, the more disturbing it becomes.

In order to understand the ramifications of Kyl’s mindset on maternity leave, it is important to view this issue using a wider lense.

In the video, Kyl is debating his proposed amendment that would prohibit the federal government from defining the health care benefits offered through private insurance. In other words, Kyl wants to prohibit the federal government from telling private health insurance companies what they must provide as standard care to their consumers.

In retrospect, it was probably not the best example to use, but Kyl brought up mandatory maternity care to help validate his point that forcing insurance companies to cover their consumers in a more comprehensive fashion, would unnecessarily raise the cost on everyone, even those who do not need maternity care, like Kyl.

The argument that Kyl is trying to make here is, “why should I (Kyl) have to have my premiums raised, just so some woman, who decided to get pregnant, can get the appropriate care to ensure that she has a healthy baby?”

There is no need to comment on just how stupid, misogynistic, and short-sighted this argument is, but Kyl’s dismissal of the importance of maternity care is even more astonishing, when one considers his views on other issues.

Take for instance John Kyl’s staunch anti-abortion stance, and how that totally contradicts his stance on maternity care.

Hypothetically speaking, what if a woman decided to have a child, but after she became pregnant, she realized that her maternity care was not covered (or maybe she lost her health coverage due to some other circumstances not in her control). What John Kyl would require this woman to do is have the baby, because abortion is murder in his eyes; and at the same time, Kyl would be unwilling to grant this woman maternity care because he does not want his premiums to go up, knowing full well that the health of the mother and the child would be put in jeopardy.

John Kyl to this hypothetical woman: You’re fucked!

And he considers himself pro-life?

Stabenow nailed it. What if Kyl’s mother did not have maternity care when she was carrying him? Would he be the man he is today?

    John Kyl is a demon-seed.

Not to mention for every 10 men who say “I can’t physically have a baby, why should I pay for it?” Statistically what’s the percentage of them that will father a child? Should he be without financial responsible to chip in just because he isn’t taking any other responsibility?
