Hannity Claims To Have Seen A Poll That Shows Americans Supporting A Troop Increase In Afghanistan
On his show yesterday, Sean Hannity claimed to have seen a poll that was just released that showed a majority of Americans supporting a troop increase in Afghanistan.
Juan Williams response to Hannity’s claim was:
I haven’t seen that.
As far as I can tell, Williams’ response was appropriate, because there was nothing to see. Apparently Hannity is making up polls in the hopes that his thirst for more war will be quenched.
The two most recent polls taken on this subject show that Americans are not in favor of sending more troops into Afghanistan.
According to the most recent CNN/ORC poll:
- 59% oppose a troop increase
- 39% support a troop increase
According to the most recent ABC/Washington Post poll:
- 49% do not feel Afghanistan is worth fighting for.
- 47% believe it is worth fighting for.
Unfortunately for Hannity, I was unable to find “a poll” that was released on 10/28/09 that shows Americans in favor of increasing the number of American troops in Afghanistan.
Though I scoured the internet looking for the poll Hannity was referring to and was unable to find it, that does not mean it does not exist. However, knowing Hannity’s track record of dishonesty, the poll most likely is fictitious.

Hannity lies so much, I don’t think it even bothers him anymore. Plus, when he does lie, there are no consequences.

Hannity is suffering from Balloon Boy Head. Once you’re able to pin him down you discover that there’s nothing inside.
